_Neil Hutton has been involved in the music industry in a professional capacity for nearly 20 years. Having recorded several albums for major labels and having toured the world relentlessly with Birmingham metal outfit “Benediction” and Cheltenham’s “Stampin’ Ground”, Neil is now held in the highest esteem by his peers within the “Metal” genre. After choosing to take the path of lone musician (Neil is also more than a competent guitarist) he found himself playing drum clinics with the likes of Craig Blundell, Russell Gilbrook and Robin Guy. Presently, Neil is passing on his knowledge by teaching people of all ages and levels with ever growing success and is available for studio sessions.
Neil Hutton is one of the U.K.’s, finest exponents of rock drumming. His acutely accurate timing coupled with immense passion for what he does have made him a highly sought after musical figure on the Birmingham music scene for the last 15 years.
His career began at the age of 17, whilst attending the sound check of a friend’s band who had landed a support slot to a signed band. The signed band in question, “Warlord”, used a drum machine to keep their music together but were intrigued to hear what Neil had to offer. Since this audition Neil has not looked back, having joined death metal veterans “Benediction” a year later saw him Headline a European tour, recorded his first album and shot his first video which attracted major interest from MTV. An illustrious 8 years followed before Neil chose to take another path in the form of a Cheltenham based hardcore/metal style band called “Stampin’ Ground”. Themselves already a force amongst a more main stream genre of music. Whilst playing in S.G. Neil would play such prestigious shows as Donnington, Bloodstock, Wacken to name but a few. When S.G. finally split in December of 2006, Neil rejoined Benediction to record a final album with them and subsequent tour of Europe.
Playing in bands is something Neil had always done, like many, sometimes in multiple bands. But now most of his efforts are poured into teaching people of all ages about rhythm and drumming, which he has been doing with great success for the last three years.
